Giving Back to the Community

Proceeds from the St. John’s Block Party are given back to the community.   Over $10,000  were donated from last July’s (2011) successful Block Party.   In the eight year history of the Block Party more than $110,000 have been given to charitable organizations.   This year’s beneficiaries include:

  • Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN)
  • Community Housing Partnership
  • Homeless Community Network
  • Child Care Resource and Referral
  • Good Samaritan Dental Clinic
  • Channel One Food Bank & Food Shelf
  • Rochester Boys’ and Girls’ Club of America
  • Sports Mentorship Academy
  • Rochester: A Litter Bit Better
  • RNeighbors
  • Durward’s Glen Retreat Center
  • U.W.I.W. (Standing Rock Youth Empowerment Program)
  • AVSI – USA
  • Cardboard Box City event (Salvation Army and IHN)
  • Catholic Charities Refugee Resettlement

Funds have also been designated and set aside to benefit local families in crisis and to support local upcoming charitable events and fundraisers during the months leading up to this year’s festivities.
